College Board Notice: May SAT is canceled

In response to the rapidly evolving situation around the coronavirus (COVID-19) and guidance from public health officials, the College Board is canceling the May 2, 2020, SAT® administration. Makeup exams for the March 14 administration (scheduled March 28) are also canceled. The College Board will provide refunds to all students who are registered for May, whose March test centers were closed, or who won't receive March scores because of an irregularity.

We'll provide future additional SAT testing opportunities for students as soon as feasible in place of canceled administrations. We'll be as flexible as possible to give students the best chance to show their skills and stay on the path to college. We haven't yet canceled the June 6, 2020, administration of the SAT Subject Tests™ and will continue to assess its status.

We understand that students outside the U.S. may have differing needs from country to country in terms of university planning steps and timelines. The College Board will take these concerns into consideration as we provide future testing opportunities.

We'll be flexible, thoughtful, and collaborative in exploring ways to continue to support student learning and provide students opportunities to test during this challenging time. Thank you for your partnership.

Dear ISU Parents,

As promised in my last note on January 26, I am writing to update you about developments now that our Board of Trustees has been able to meet in response to the State Emergency Commission’s closure of schools.

The first thing to note is that the ISU campus will remain closed until at least April 30.  This is unlike the earlier two-day closure that we endured.  While the duration of the closure on Mongolia may be very long, as schools across China and Hong Kong are closing until at least mid-February, and this decree comes from the National Emergency Authority, we must recognize that Mongolia would have specific difficulty in addressing a pandemic, should such a situation occur.

ISU will continue to offer online learning programmes in the interim.  But we recognize that our current online programmes were designed for short-term closures.  They do not necessarily incorporate the best tools that we might use to meet student learning needs, and they do not do so in a synchronized way that mimics a weekly schedule.  In addition, we do not have systematic guidelines and supports for our parents.

Today the Board of Trustees voted to provide substantial financial support to the school’s administration so that we can revisit and enhance our education offerings for extended closure.  While we will continue with our online programme for now as we have begun the week, we will be enumerating options to better meet the learning objectives of all of our programmes in cases of emergency closure.

With this overview of options in hand we will revise and update our offerings and expectations, and we will also offer all parents more comprehensive and coordinated instructions for supporting your child’s online learning by grade.  We hope to have some of these changes underway by Monday, and at all stages will provide announcements and instructions as developments warrant.

We realize that the current circumstances are very stressful in a number of ways:  The vague, unpredictable and often unexplained declarations that have so much influence on our current lives; the fact that children are now home in the daytime, often when both parents need to be working; the expectations that some online learning places upon working parents who must try to find time to assist in their children’s schooling; and the sheer uncertainty of day-to-day life in an environment bracing to forestall an epidemic.

We are working tirelessly to provide continuity, structure and meaningful learning for your children. Please know that your children’s teachers and the school’s broader staff are working full days to build and sustain our online programmes.

ОУДС-ийн сургууль дээрх танхимын сургалт нь  04 дүгээр сарын 30-ны өдрийг хүртэл түр зогсох бөгөөд сургалт цахим хэлбэрээр явагдана.  Энэ удаагийн нөхцөл байдал нь өнгөрсөн долоо хоногийнхоос өөр юм. Хятад, Хонконгод 02 дугаар сарын дунд хүртэл сургуулиудаа хааж байгаа бол, харин  Монгол Улсын хувьд илүү урт хугацаагаар хаагдаж байна. Энэ нь Улсын Онцгой Комисc олон нийтийг хамарсан халдварт өвчний тархалт нөхцөл байдал хүндэрч болзошгүй гэж үзэж байгаатай холбоотой.

Бид цахим хэлбэрээр сургалтаа үргэлжүүлж байгаа ч одоогийн хэрэглэж байгаа арга хэлбэр нь богино хугацаанд танхимын сургалт хаагдах үед тохиромжтой тул энэ удаагийн  нөхцөл байдал, сурагчдын сурах хэрэгцээнд төдийлөн оновчтой бус байна. Мөн энэ нь сурагчдын хэрэгцээнд тохирсон хамгийн сайн арга хэлбэр бишийн дээр долоо хоногийн төлөвлөгөөт хичээлийн хуваарьт зохицохгүй байна. Энэ 7 хоногийн цахим сургалтаа энэ хэвээр явуулна. Харин энэ хугацаандаа илүү боловсронгуй, хүртээмжтэй арга хэлбэрийг судлан, эцэг эхчүүдэд цахим сургалтын орчинд хүүхдэдээ хэрхэн дэмжлэг туслалцаа үзүүлж болох талаарх зааварчилгааг хүргүүлнэ. Ирэх Даваа гарагт бид та бүхэнд энэ талаар эргэн мэдэгдэх болно.
