Language and Literature

Language and literature is academically rigorous and equips students with linguistic, analytical and communicative skills that can be used in an interdisciplinary manner across all subject groups. MYP Language and literature courses build on experiences in language acquisition from the PYP and extend into the DP where students become increasingly proficient and confident in the use of the language. Developed through the study of both language and literature, these courses strive to promote both critical and creative thinking skills, which are essential for reflection, learning, self-expression and social interaction. MYP Language and literature courses are assessed against four criteria, each with a maximum achievement level of eight.

MYP Language and literature assessment criteria:

  • Criterion A: Analyzing
  • Criterion B: Organizing
  • Criterion C: Producing text
  • Criterion D: Using language
