History

The International School of Ulaanbaatar was the first international school in Mongolia. It began operation in September 1992 to meet the educational needs of a growing international community.

  • 1992
    Permission to open a school is granted by the Mongolian Ministry of Education.
  • 1997
    The Mongolian Ministry of Education certifies the International School of Ulaanbaatar.
  • 1999
    ISU becames a member of ECIS (this organization later got divided into CIS and ECIS).
  • 2003
    ISU is first accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).
  • 2004
    ISU has its first graduating class of three students.
  • 2004
    ISU receives full authorization from the International Baccalaureate organisation (IB).
  • 2007
    ISU moves to a new campus in Four Seasons Garden area.
  • 2016
    ISU opens its new Secondary School building.
