Primary parents can read here how to contribute.

From The Director

Greetings,

It is nice to write you again from ISU. I have been out, attending job recruitment fairs, to hire teachers for next year. So far, I have hired nine of the eleven positions needed. We only had five people leave. The additional positions are for expansion of programs and to keep our class sizes small.

ISU takes its responsibility to the community seriously. Recently, due to the Zud, our students collected twenty-eight boxes of clothing and supplies to send. This whole school activity, led by the fourth grade classes, shows the giving nature of our students. The awareness of the world around us, provided by many opportunities of service, is a highlight of ISU, an IB World School.

Additional activities, this school year, involve:

--- Our fifth grade students raised money, to provide to Flourishing Futures, for a green house and helping families with felt and a door for their Ger.
--- We had two Angel Giving Trees prior to winter. These trees had names of those less fortunate that addressed gifts and clothing. These assisted the Fraternity of Notre Dame Children’s Home and the Rainbow Center for Disabled Children.
--- IWAM Toiletries products drive.
--- Raising money for a local university student who was chosen as a class project.
--- Items for “Toy’s for Tots” , sponsored by the US Marines, which will go to a local orphanage.

We appreciate your support of the activities at ISU. We are proud of our students and their willingness to see beyond their daily lives.

My best,
Greg Rayl, Director

The International School of Ulaanbaatar (ISU) seeks to offer the best educational system possible, based on an international curriculum.

ISU has always maintained a strong commitment to celebrating cultural identity and responsible citizenship and one of 150 schools worldwide that offers all three of the IB Programs.

ISU offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma for Senior Students, and has done so since 2002, the Middle Years Program for Grades Six to Ten since 2002, and the Primary Years Program for elementary students since 2000.

These programs are designed and administered by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), based in Geneva, and may only be offered in schools that have been individually assessed and authorized by that organization.

Only schools that have met the stringent requirements of the IBO may display the IB World logo.

The language of instruction is English.

Generally, the curriculum covers Language A (first language), Language B (second language), Math, Science Humanities, Arts, Technology and PE.

All students are encouraged to learn another foreign language providing that they are fluent in English. Currently French, Chinese and Mongolian are offered as foreign language choices while English, Mongolian and Korean (G9-12) are offered as Language A. Piano classes are available to all students from Grade One.
